Paulette Jones (Managing Director)

Paulette Jones is Principal Environmental Scientist and a Managing Director of BAAM Pty Ltd. Her areas of expertise are in natural resource planning and management, ecological survey, impact assessment and environmental project management.

Paulette began her career in environmental science with the Environment Protection Group of the Department of Mines and Energy in the Northern Territory. From there she commenced employment with Dames & Moore Pty. Ltd. (now URS) as an ecological consultant, over eight years moving to group and project management roles.

Paulette was based in Brisbane, Sydney and Townsville for extended periods, and also contributed to projects in the Northern Territory and Indonesia. She has been involved in a broad range of projects from ecological assessments for ports, army training areas, airport radar towers and mines, to the management of environmental impact statements for major industrial facilities. During that time Paulette was also responsible for contributions to government organisations, such as the Wet Tropics Management Authority, NSW Forestry and the Australian Development Assistance Bureau, regarding threatened natural heritage values and the ecological sustainability of specific projects.

Paulette left Dames & Moore in 1996 to establish EcoSIS Pty Ltd., a specialist environmental consultancy with emphasis on the application of GIS technology to spatial data management, with particular applications to project planning and land management. This company was purchased by Hyder (Environmental) Pty. Ltd. in 1998, where she was employed for 2 years as a Senior Environmental Scientist, involved primarily in the development of Environmental Management Systems with the Queensland Department of Main Roads and Queensland Rail.
